Coffee & Bistro Bar

All of the foods we serve are made in-house at Ellerslie Gift & Garden. Inspired by both classic Canadian favourites and traditional European fare, we are proud to prepare comfort foot that will enhance the aroma, warm the tummy, please Bistro and coffee shopthe palate, and satisfy the culinary soul. We are also sensitive to special dietary requirements that some of our guests may have. Therefore, some of our soups are created without wheat and some without dairy. We also offer options for those who desire vegan selections.

Menu Changes and Specials

Some of our offerings change with the seasons. We feature far more hot drinks and soothing foods in chilly months, with many more cool refreshments and lighter fare offered during warmer weather. Our specials also change - some daily, or weekly; others are monthly or seasonal specials. Items on our regular menu rotate to offer you more choices. If you wonder what selections will be available on any given day - just call to find out what will be served.

Snacks, Sweets, Coffee, Tea and Cool Refreshments

If you're dropping by for just a snack with tea, coffee, or a cold refreshment, you won't be disappointed. Our coffee choices include classic Colombian roasts, as well as both lattes and cappuccinos. Tea lovers can choose regular or organic tea, green tea or loose-leaf gourmet tea. If you prefer a cold drink, order an icy and frothy fruit refreshment. When you crave a sweet moment, ask about our fresh baked muffins and cookies. Or treat yourself to an individual, mini-size fruit pie, served a la mode, upon request.

Soup Menu - selections with a regular rotation on our soup menu include:

Curried Butternut Squash - organically grown butternut squash, pureed with a hint of cinnamon and a touch of curry, garnished with sour cream and our own oven roasted squash seeds. This soup is wheat free, but if you need dairy free, just ask your server not to add any sour cream.

Country Chicken - oven roasted chicken with loads of vegetables, simmered in our homemade stock. It's a traditional hearty soup like Grandma used to make. Add a fresh and warm drop biscuit, to soak up that last bit of beautiful broth.

Tuscan Tomato - fresh roma tomatoes, garlic and red onions carmelized in the oven, pureed with sundried tomatoes before being added to organic vegetable broth and hand crushed tomatoes. This vegan choice is also enriched with fresh basil. Served with grilled ciabatta, plain or spread with herbed cream cheese butter, great for breaking into the bowl or just dripping. No wheat. No dairy.

Maritime Clam - Just as the same suggests, this traditional soup is reminiscent of a trip out to the East Coast, but without the salt air, of course. This sensational coup is superbly partnered with our seven grain, Irish soda bread.

Cassoulet - If you have traveled in southern France, you've seen this offering on the menu. Our take on this centuries old recipe combines pork meatballs, roast chicken, roast breast of duck, and a bit of dried sausage in a rich tomato broth with navy and kidney beans. This soup is so filling, you won't be wanting a sandwich on the side. Wheat but no dairy.

Stone Soup - Just like the much loved fable insists, with a little bit of this, and a little bit of that, you end up with soup. This delicious vegan soup is a beautiful medley of several wild & brown rices, French lentils, pot barley and beans with other vegetables in splendid stock, wafting with the aromas of turmeric and Hungarian paprika.

Southwestern Corn Chowder - Not your typical corn chowder, this soup is a zesty blend of chipotle and chili peppers. The chicken stock is enriched with yogurt ranch and hearty with potatoes, bacon and red bell pepper. Ask for our herb & cheese drop biscuit to complete this colourful plate.

Italian Meatball Soup - lean turkey meatballs, braised fresh spinach, onions and basil. Add a little balsamic vinegar and hand crushed tomatoes. Then heap on the Parmesan and you have a truly luscious lunch. Wheat but no dairy if you order without Parmesan.

Creamy Mushroom - a perennial favourite, this rich and creamy soup is brimming with crimini and portabello mushrooms, right down to the bottom of the bowl. We oven roast the onions and garlic and then puree with the stems to enhance your mushroom experience.

Panini Menu - those with a regular rotation our panini menu include:

Westphalian Ham & Camembert - smokey, Westphalian ham grilled on marble rye bread with creamy Camembert melted to perfection. Served with your choice of pickle.

Roast Chicken Ciabatta - oven roasted, herbed chicken breast, carmelized onion, dijon mustard and provolone cheese all piled on a fresh ciabatta and then grilled to perfection.

Wild West BBQ Beef - marinated and slow cooked, pulled roast beef, piled into a bread bowl, topped with havarti and grilled. Served with the aus jus from the slow cooker, just to ensure you can savour all that fantastic flavour.

Other Taste Sensations - our wonderful wraps and appealing pitas include:

Portabello Mushroom with Asiago Cheese Wrap - grilled mushrooms, oven roasted peppers & caramelized onion are accented by our own pesto spread. Topped with asiago cheese, rolled in a wrap and grilled, this wrap is dripping with fantastic flavours.

Grilled Meatloaf Pita - we use three meats, lean beef, pork and bison, to make our meatloaf lean yet very tasty. Served by tucking into a fresh pita half with our tomato relish, mustard and feta cheese.
